Wickerwork
In Indonesia wickerwork is a tradition bound craftsmanship, and the craftsmanship is passed from generation to generation.
Family tradition
The local craftsmen often sit at home when they wave the baskets. It is sometimes seen that the family sits together when they wave the baskets. The children talk to, for example, their grandmother, while she shows them how she waves the baskets. In this way the craftsmanship passes though generations.
Craftsmanship
The baskets from MUUBS is handmade of waterhyacinth, which is a water plant picked up from the river. The roots of the water plants are dried, and the baskets are woven by the basket-artisans. Therefore all baskets are handwoven and unique.
